Project Noise is the creation of musician, artist, writer and designer Craig Grannell. His initial ventures into music occurred a decade ago, and ever since he's honed his sound, creating eclectic CDs that aim to combine various elements of contemporary culture and music into a unique ‘rockdancepopstorynoisething'. Compared to, amongst others, Wire, Depeche Mode, Joy Division, U96, The Fall, Moby, New Order, KLF, Chemical Brothers and Kraftwerk (although not all at once!), Project Noise nonetheless has a voice all of its own. Your secrets preyed on a gullible trade
Intoxicated, someone had got made
Tremble and shout, a shudder of doubt
Infected halos pretend to pout
Tremble and shout, all the time
A second skin. Let the ritual begin
Anything is welcome in a den of sin
Countless parted lips. Bloodied fingertips
Delicious whisper. Sweet liquid drips
Tremble and shout, all the time
I much prefer it here
It's far more automatic
Songs climb into a silent night
Of generated longing
For that emptiness
Bloated horizons look so far away
Clouds turning
Orange sky, night, burning
All my faces fade to grey
As the colours melt away
All the spies have painted eyes
And a bullet in their brains
Expectation meets denial
Emancipation with a smile
Separation
Spinning faster
Don't admit it's driving you
Standalone: single-file
Arachnophobe on the wire
Hiding words. Fortunes creeping
Obedient herds, cheering and leaping
Seeking proof. Tunnel vision
Cut the slack and indecision
A perfect smile. Drugging the nation
Hook them young. Writhe in inflation
Breaking down. It's all-deceiving
Standing up. They're all believing
So it seems... Keep on living
An open mind, no-one's giving
Seal a deal. Blind persuasion
Cut and dry. A press invasion
The new world sings joyful arrival
Cheated by acts of survival
Breaking down. It's all-deceiving
Standing up. They're all believing
So it seems... Keep on living
An open mind, no-one's giving
I never thought that I'd ever see
This breakdown happen next to me
In another little town with another little lie
Everyone comes back to die
Separating summers by pressing a switch
Invisible and free, the firework played
Watching at night time
As the lights start to fade
Knee-jerk guidelines pulling the chains
Idle inaction
Meets a criminal mind
Hides in the darkness with traps left behind
Lacking in purpose, but turning the screw
Diluted and muted, the definitive clause
Everything scripted
The tongues never pause
All so important, eyes are held tight
More thoughtless miming
A puppet on a string
Last-gasp emotion. A peasant King
Are you tired of breathing?
Are you still feeling?
You said TV holds the signs
Did you hit the ceiling?
Did you end up reeling?
From crossing all the lines
Separating summers
Pressing a switch
In a desert you call home
There's a silence hounding me:
An artificial wall
Of everything we ever dreamed of
That exists in a memory
Walking alone
In a place you've never seen
Where you forget
Everywhere that you have been
With every word and every lie
Your wish, defined, then becomes my
Every thought and every breath
And every dream
In this memory you play
In a time that's in-between
Embrace another programme
Designed to invade your subconscious
Dream a dream of make believe
Walking alone
In a place you've never seen
Where you forget
Everywhere that you have been
With every word and every lie
Your wish, defined, then becomes my
Every thought and every breath
And every dream
Pick what you like. No other spark
The moon won't rise: scared of the dark
Say what you see. I'm inside you
You're confused. It's what I do
Standing in the queue for the love parade
"I want you near."
"You're beautiful."
But I am insincere
She lives to hide. He breaks the door
In another time, she waits some more
Dream another life. Picture the scene:
Life's passenger to the TV screen
Standing in the queue for the love parade
"I want you near."
"You're beautiful."
But I am insincere
I'm not amused
You're fiddling the weights
Without hesitation
Feeling abused
In cursive mental states of agitation
Every word they choose
Is to instigate interrogation
Your thoughts, confused
Begin to terminate—too late
It's OK
It's all right
Try the accused
Casting love and hate by association
A subtle ruse
It's not for me to hate—too late
Looking east and all is dark
Looking up, five planets spark
When day breaks west, for midnight feast
To sleep again, I stare out east
I stare out east
Reminding me of cities lost
Tears and smiles, and bridges crossed
A familiar scene I know so well
Insomnia creeps inside my shell
Inside my shell
I stare out east
I stare out east
A sacred pattern, the timing sweet
Dawn grows longer each time we meet
A future aided by a medical mind
Arrangements shattered, a cross defined
The speech-writer sounds so lonely
Without a frenzy by her side
The speech-writer sounds so lonely
Without a face to hide
Scribes are questioned, records scanned
Marks are decoys; wrath was unplanned
A bloodline token; no soul or heart
Mystery has spoken: two worlds apart
Focussing on me
Make me want to see
Ideology
Bury consciously
Dreams are all you know
Drowning in the flow
The dead can never grow
Flickers never show
A heartbeat
Breathing far too deep
You never ever sleep
Everything I keep
A knotted, twisted heap
Eyes rolling round
Oblivious to sound
Pressure keeps us bound
Noise begins to pound
A heartbeat
Learning to ignore
The creaking of the door
Ticking evermore
Forgetting on the floor
Everything comes apart
Learn a subtle art
A pulse begins to start
The beating of your heart
A heartbeat
I feel your heartbeat
A magical moment
A clouded emotion
A seminal notion
An instant of impact
A judgement in error
A flash of sheer terror
A hope fountain
A memory stolen
An irrational omen
A bringer of wishes
A yearning to divide
A journey back inside
I sail an ocean
I sail an ocean
I sail an ocean
I heard you spoke to Noah
Fared no better than me
You came, levelling the ground
It was so cold
This dream is old
Make me dance
I heard you were mistaken
Nothing changes for free
You came, woke and made no sound
This dream is old
And seldom told
Make me dance
Now: pushing into space
Listen to me
Make me listen
Make me dance
For a moment
Always looking for another sign
Searched a lifetime. It was always there
If you tell me that there is no time
I won't worry—I don't really care
Whisper softly: tell me it's all right
For me to dream for another day
If you hold me, shut the world outside
We can hide
We can hide away
For a lifetime, we can hide away
For a lifetime, we can hide
Always searching for a hidden rule
Searched a lifetime. It was never there
Looping memories become so cruel
Nothing matters—no-one seems to care
Feeling lonely as the crowds subside
Walking wounded. Survive another day
Now it's later and the world's outside
We can hide
We can hide away
Words will never divide us
All the feelings define structure
Calling all diviners
Water leaking, they keep seeking
Underground, the river flows
While in streets the concrete grows
Take the whistle, bite the hand
The one that feeds and understand
Understand
Live the dream, thrive on illusion
Defeat the scheme, share my conclusion
